Grown on the mountainside of Mt. Kilimanjaro, these coffee plants are grown side by side with bananas. Rich, fertile soil and heavy rain yields an excellent crop year after year. Ripe cherries are handpicked individually by farmers using family labor. Under ripe cherries and foreign objects are sorted and coffee is processed the same day of harvest.
Coffee is fermented in plastic tanks and soak pits for about 72 hours. Higher altitude fermentation can take a bit longer than 72 hours. Coffee is washed with clean water on every step and then dried on raised beds for 11-14 days. After drying, they are stored and delivered in parchment where coffee goes through final quality check.
